This is a place established to talk about current events, opinions on NASCAR Sprint Cup racing, other racing, racing personalities, etc.

We allow a certain amount of political discussion -- in fact, have allowed a lot. But there are limits that a racing site has to set. And there are other sites, where they welcome and encourage such discussions. Heck, they even welcome the crazy end of those talks.

But this might not be the right place for you to have your poliical rant, whether it's on the right or left side of the deal. While we respect your right to have that discussion, we'd like to point out -- once again -- that this is a racing site.

Got an opinion on Danica Patrick? The ever-popular Jimme Johnson? Shane Hmiel?

Want to talk about the president, Sarah Palin? Really. Is this where you really want to be? We're not so sure about that.

Let's stop and think: ThatsRacin.com ... How does that conjure up partisan politics? Seriously. Beyond Chevy vs. Ford, vs. Toyota vs Dodge?

While we appreciate your contributions, we are stopping to consider: How "general" can our "general discussions" all be?

So, if you want to continue, please keep your posts on topic, at least modestly civil and try to give the people you are attempting to communicate with a little bit of credit when they show you the same courtesies. When they do not, please try to contain yourself and place them on "ignore" or otherwise leave them to wallow in their own mess.

Becoming inflamed or being "provoked" is not an excuse for posting stupidly. Also, please try to limit yourself to one user name. And please know that your actual and given name is a perfectly fine one to use. That would qualify as honesty and would be a credit to you and others you hold dear.
